On the palate it is smooth with a slight viscosity, apricot jam, wax and oil, strong honey sweetness, depth and rich long finish. [Good/Very Good] This is the new release from Hunter Laing's flagship series, Old & Rare, of Clynelish 1996, aged for 20 years. It has a fruity character reminiscent of apricot jam with waxy and oily nuances, and the sweetness is rich and satisfying. In addition, it was impressive that notes of ripe fruits such as pears, which are not usually associated with Clynelish, were present in the aroma. In exchange, the viscosity was somewhat restrained. It felt like a distinct cask that Hunter Laing had chosen.
