MORTLACH 1997-2015 17yo DUN BHEAGAN #91111 47.5% - One of 723 bottles, Oloroso Sherry Finish
Bottle #モートラック(MORTLACH)
Slight sulfuric elements were present, but it was a typical MORTLACH malt. MORTLACH 1997-2015 17yo DUN BHEAGAN #91111 47.5% - One of 723 bottles, Oloroso Sherry Finish The aroma had weight and slowly expanded, with chocolate-covered orange, slightly caramelized nuts, and a wheatiness in the background. On the palate, recent sherries, plums, quite meaty and sulfuric notes with jam-like sweetness and a rich finish. [Good] This is a new release from DUN BHEAGAN, MORTLACH 1997 aged for 17 years. It was matured in an Oloroso Sherry cask, and while the 47.5% ABV is a delicate strength, it feels like it has been diluted in terms of quantity and flavor. As for my image of MORTLACH, there is weight, meatiness, sulfuric elements, rich body and concentrated fruity sweetness. This bottle matched that image. Regarding the sulfur notes, there may be divided opinions, but I think it is within acceptable range and will become more refined over time. This is a MORTLACH that gives a rich, meaty and luxurious house style.
