New Release: Laphroaig 1997-2015 BBR for The Whisky Exchange #46

Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 1997-2015 BBR for THE WHISKY EXCHANGE #46 53.8%
Bottle #ラフロイグ(LAPHROAIG)
A classic and delicious Laphroaig. Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 1997-2015 BBR for THE WHISKY EXCHANGE #46 53.8% The nose is distinctly fruity with a concentrated character, featuring grapefruit, plum, tea, wafers with milk chocolate, seafood dashi, a touch of beans or earthiness, faint leather nuances, and strong peat notes accompanied by iodine. On the palate, it begins with a smooth and viscous mouthfeel, expanding into grapefruit and orange, with a subtle hint of pineapple. It has a powdery texture with chewy depth, rich and dense fruity sweetness enhanced by oak. The flavor also carries savory seafood umami, robust peatiness with iodine and smoke, finishing richly oily with a long-lasting aftertaste. 【Good/Very Good】 This is the Laphroaig 1997 bottled by BBR for The Whisky Exchange, aged approximately 18 years. The aroma and flavor showcase a diverse range of fruits. Beyond the fruit elements, its complexity suggests possible cask strength or vatting, adding to its appeal. It retains the characteristic iodine-rich peatiness of Laphroaig, with a thick body and savory seafood umami reminiscent of Islay cask strength. It also features my favorite powdery concentration, with a clean and satisfying finish that lingers beautifully. While I generally find The Whisky Exchange's Laphroaig releases to be classic and delicious, this one stands out as particularly exceptional. It may well be the best among recent 1997 Laphroaig bottlings.
