New Release: Laphroaig 1998 15 Year Old The Whisky Exchange Shinanoya for BAR SHEEP 15th Anniversary
Bottle #ラフロイグ(LAPHROAIG)
As expected from a good vintage Laphroaig 1998, it was an excellent bottle.
Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 1998-2014 15yo THE WHISKY EXCHANGE chosen by Shinanoya for the 15th anniversary of BAR SHEEP 54.8%
The aroma has a matured orange or apricot, strong peat smoke with iodine, nuts, light matcha, when drinking it has a condensed citrus, slightly chewy, rich sweet flavor, faintly smoky strong peat, seafood dashi, slightly oily, long finish.
[Good/Very Good]
The Laphroaig 1998 from The Whisky Exchange, aged for 15 years.
This was bottled by Shinanoya as a commemorative bottle for the 15th anniversary of BAR SHEEP in Yokohama.
While the peat and smoky characteristics are similar to current Laphroaig, there was a concentrated citrusy sensation with a chewy texture that seemed like it came from a refill cask.
I also strongly felt the nuances of peat, seawater, and seafood dashi typical of an Islay malt's cask strength.
Compared to bottles with the same specifications from around the same time, the price was quite reasonable, and I thought it was a very fair and excellent commemorative bottle.
Congratulations on your 15th anniversary!
