Lagavulin 1998-2004 5yo Glenscoma #9719 46%
Bottle #ラガヴーリン(LAGAVULIN)
Even though it's young, it had a solid Lagavulin flavor.
Lagavulin LAGAVULIN 1998-2004 5yo Glenscoma #9719 46%
one of 432 bottles
The aroma has tree resin and light wax, apricot jam, seafood dashi, minerals, strong peat, and smoke.
When drinking it starts with a smooth mouthfeel then slightly young spicy notes, gentle sweetness of diluted apricot jam and honey, savory umami, light but tightening oak, seafood umami, peaty with a long finish.
[Good/Very Good]
Bottled by Glenscoma from Germany, this Lagavulin without distillery labeling was bottled in 1998 and 2004, with only 5 years of aging.
While it's common for Islay malts to mask their youth with peat, this bottle may have been influenced by the water addition and aging changes, resulting in an unexpectedly well-crafted whisky.
It has nuances of apricot jam and tree resin often found in matured Lagavulin, with a rich sweetness and a textured mouthfeel that left a good impression.
It exceeded my expectations based on the specs, and I honestly found it delicious.
