Glenfarclas GLENFARCLAS 1998-2017 18yo 'GOLGO 13 White Label' #40 51.2%
one of 359 bottles, sherry butt
The aroma was a mellow sherried character with sweet black sugar mochi, mirin sauce, coffee, burnt barley and a hint of pepper.
When tasted, it started with a smooth mouthfeel expanding gradually into the rich sweetness of prunes and pleasant tannins, with a thick body and a deep sweet aftertaste.
[Good/Very Good]
Recently released by Shogakukan, this Speyside malt was bottled to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Golgo 13. It was matured for 23 years from 1993.
Although not specified, it seems to be from Glenfarclas distillery.
In addition to this white label, there is also the gold label Glen Keith that was previously introduced.
The cask appears to be from a German whisky agency, similar to the gold label.
A mellow and sweet sherried character was clearly present, with a rich sweetness reminiscent of concentrated fruits and black sugar, enhanced by pleasant tannins.
A farclas sherried cask that has none of the undesirable characteristics, as chosen by Yamayama, and it was delicious.
