The aroma is elegant with passion fruit, grapefruit, and a smoky peat note. There's also a subtle paper-like quality. Upon tasting, the tropical fruits like passion fruit and pineapple are strong with a rich sweetness, some spicy heat, a faint paper-like quality, woody bitterness from raw wood and plants, smoky finish with good clarity, slightly oily with a long aftertaste.
[Good/Very Good]
This is a new release from the Single Malt of Scotland by Speciality Drinks (Whisky Exchange), Bowmore 1999, aged for 15 years.
The aroma is elegant with a strong tropical flavor of passion fruit typical of Bowmore, along with grapefruit and a distinct smoky peat note.
When tasted, the tropical notes were even stronger than expected from the aroma. However, I personally found a slight paper-like quality and a woody bitterness somewhat off-putting.
I have become slightly more sensitive to these kinds of flavors recently, but if that doesn't bother you, this is a very tasty Bowmore with strong tropical notes.
