Bottle #ボウモア(BOWMORE)
Bowmore BOWMORE 1999-2017 18yo OB HAND-FILLED THE FEIS ILE COLLECTION #146? 51.0% FIRST FILL BOURBON HOGSHEAD The aroma is lavish and fruity, with passion fruit, guava, pineapple, vanilla, seawind, and peat. Upon drinking, it starts with a soft mouthfeel, expanding into tropical fruits similar to the aroma, with a juicy sweetness and acidity, a subtle briny umami, pronounced peat, and a long finish. [Good/Very Good] This hand-filled bottling at Bowmore Distillery is likely from the latest cask. The vintage is 1999, matured for approximately 18 years in a first-fill bourbon hogshead. As expected from high-quality bourbon hogsheads, the vanilla notes are present but without any raw woody aroma, and the Bowmore signature juicy tropical fruits were clearly felt. The sweet and acidic juice-like flavors are pleasant, with the briny and peaty characteristics typical of Islay malt sufficiently pronounced. This Bowmore exemplifies the best qualities of bourbon casks and the original spirit's unique character, making it a delicious whisky. However, recently these hand-filled bottles often have the cask number only on the seal part of the bottle, and since this area is exactly where the seal is cut, the numbers are often difficult to read. In this case, ultimately, I couldn't determine the last digit of the number.
