Isle of Jura ISLE OF JURA 20yo OB 54% One of 261 bottles 1990s Release
The aroma had a slightly cider-like apple, full-bodied fruity notes with fino sherry and nuts, and a pleasant grainy feel.
When tasted, it had the same fruity notes as the aroma with sweetness and a gentle acidity. There was a slight clay-like texture, which deepened the flavor, though the finish wasn't very long but was distinctive and good. [Good/Very Good]
An official Jura 20 Year Old, this is a limited edition cask strength bottling.
I didn't detect tropical fruit notes, but the refreshing apple-like aroma with a cider-like quality was impressive. I also sensed a slight fino sherry character.
The balance of fruity sweetness and acidity was interesting, and I could faintly detect the clay-like nuances typical of Jura, which added depth to the flavor.
Sometimes there were tropical notes, sometimes a rustic clayiness or even some perfume-like elements...
Jura really shows different faces depending on the era and cask. It's one of my favorite distilleries.
