【Good/Very Good】
This is the Old Particular Laphroaig 2001, aged for 14 years, bottled by Douglas Laing specifically for this year's Feis Ile. The aroma differs from the official first-fill bourbon cask, showcasing a distinct Laphroaig-like grapefruit character typical of bottlers. Subtly, there are also hints of passion fruit and peach, with a faint apricot-like nuance in the background. With careful nosing, the fruitiness proves unexpectedly diverse. The strong peat, accompanied by youthful malt and Laphroaig's characteristic iodine notes, left a strong impression. On the palate, similar to the aroma, it carries diverse fruity notes with some juiciness, gradually shifting into a smoky charcoal-like character reminiscent of recent Laphroaig releases. Despite being a post-2000 single cask, this bottler's Laphroaig surprisingly showcases a rich array of aromas. The bottle clearly conveys the effort put into selecting it for the festival.
