Glen Garioch GLENGARIOCH 2001-2015 OB 'HAND FILLED' #409 56.2% First Fill Bourbon Hogshead
Bottle #グレンギリー(GLENGARIOCH)
A recent Gillie with a good bourbon character. Glen Garioch GLENGARIOCH 2001-2015 OB 'HAND FILLED' #409 56.2% First Fill Bourbon Hogshead The aroma features fresh green apple, orange, vanilla, honey, youthful barley notes, soft oak, and quite rich. On the palate, it delivers a gradual spicy pepperiness, honeyed sweetness, strong barley notes with umami, tightening oak, and a spicy finish. [Good/Very Good] This hand-filled bottling from the Glen Garioch distillery is a recent 2015 filling. As noted in its description as a first-fill bourbon hogshead, it clearly exhibits nuances of bourbon cask such as green apple, orange, vanilla, and oak. Despite being a 2000s distillation with approximately 14 years of aging, and given its first-fill bourbon nature, it lacks any sense of immaturity. While this type is occasionally seen in recent Gillie releases, I believe this bottling strongly showcases honeyed sweetness, barley umami, and the charm of bourbon cask. #Glen Garioch (GLENGARIOCH)
