Glen Scotia GLENSCOTIA 2002-2015 12yo OB #196 DISTILLERY EDITION No.001 56.1%
Bottle #グレンスコシア(GLENSCOTIA)
This appears to be the first cask bottled as a Distillery Edition. Glen Scotia GLENSCOTIA 2002-2015 12yo OB #196 DISTILLERY EDITION No.001 56.1% The aroma features orange, vanilla cream, strong peat, smoke, a mineral-like seaweed quality, caramelized nuts, a gradually building stimulation, apricot jam, orange marmalade, a slightly creamy and rich sweetness, strong peat, brininess, and a savory wheat flavor from the depths with a pleasant aftertaste. [Good/Very Good] This is the first single cask bottled as a Distillery Edition available at Glen Scotia Distillery. The bottle design has been refreshed to include clear, tall bottles like this one, and it seems a clean visitor center has also been established. Previously, Glen Scotia had an image of being a modest distillery with limited funds, but that has now been refreshed. It's nice to see the distillery is considering enthusiasts by offering limited-edition bottles for visitors. Regarding the content, it's quite good. It shares some commonalities with the commemorative bottle of Campbelltown Picture House, which I also drink at bars and purchase for home consumption. It's a bottle that allows you to enjoy the combination of fruity, peaty, and creamy notes. Compared to the previous bottle, it may be slightly less intense in fruity richness or creaminess but has a more refined elegance. It also exhibits the characteristic mineral and briny qualities of Campbelltown, with a clear wheat flavor that lacks the harshness often associated with youth. It's an exceptionally mature Campbelltown Malt, with no rough edges or underdeveloped characteristics that one might expect from its vintage. It gives the impression of shifting from a hidden presence in the shadow of Springbank to confidently asserting its own identity. I'm very much looking forward to future releases from this distillery.
