Glenfarclas GLENFACLAS 2006-2014 OB for Milano Whisky Festival #749,750 49.5% one of 738 bottles
Bottle #グレンファークラス(GLENFARCLAS)
A surprisingly drinkable younger Farclas. Glenfarclas GLENFACLAS 2006-2014 OB for Milano Whisky Festival #749,750 49.5% one of 738 bottles The aroma has youthful, strong barley notes, savory bread, ripe plums, nuts, custard cream, slightly new pot still root vegetables. Upon drinking, the initial attack is not too strong but gradually builds up with stimulation, plums, oranges, savory barley depth, a pleasant sweetness, oak, and a long finish. 【Good】 This is an official bottle for the Milano Whisky Festival, Glenfarclas 2006. Bottled in 2014, it's a short maturation of about 8 years and is a vatting of two adjacent casks. While Italy is often associated with consuming many short-matured Glen Grant whiskies, does this short-matured release relate to that? As expected for a younger cask, there's no strong masking elements like being a 'valle' (barrel), and it has a slightly new pot still feel, but surprisingly lacks sharpness. The strong barley notes have a delicious bread-like umami. A gentle sherry character with plum-like fruitiness covers the whole, resulting in an unexpectedly well-crafted deliciousness.
