Recent Release: Dalwhinnie Official Triple Matured Edition for Friends of Classic Malts 2013 Bottling
Bottle #ダルウィニー(DALWHINNIE)
It had a good finish with a noticeable sherry character from more recent casks.
Dalwhinnie DALWHINNIE OB 'Triple Matured Edition' for Friends of Classic Malts 48% Bottled in 2013
The aroma featured plums, rustic barley notes, Danish pastry, recent sherry characteristics, chocolate, and vanilla from the background. Upon drinking, it expanded with a smooth mouthfeel, caramel sweetness of plum jam, faint herbal liqueur notes with their bitterness, a slight grassy bite, and a rich, lingering finish.
[Good/Very Good]
This is the Triple Matured Edition of Dalwhinnie bottled in 2013 by the official bottler for Friends of Classic Malts. Although I was unaware of the specifics of triple maturation, the sherry character and its fruity notes suggest influence from recent sherry casks. The rustic barley character reminiscent of younger malts, combined with the sweet fruitiness, created a nuance akin to Danish pastry. The flavors were similarly rich and fruity with sweetness, while subtle bitterness and astringency from herbal liqueur notes added depth. Though the purpose is unclear, it was bottled at an unusually high 48% ABV, which contributed to a notably thick body, leaving a favorable impression.
