New Release: Ardbeg "Supernova" Committee Release 2015
Bottle #アードベッグ(ARDBEG)
This time, I found it quite delicious.
Ardbeg ARDBEG "SUPERNOVA" COMMITTEE RELEASE 2015 54.3%
The aroma has fresh lemon, young barley notes, vanilla, honey, brine, minerals, chlorine, and sharp peat.
When drinking it, there's a powerful attack, a spicy kick, fresh lemon, syrupy sweetness and citrus acidity, young barley notes, strong smoke, tar, and an oily finish.
[Good/Very Good]
The Supernova, which Ardbeg made with a notably stronger peat than usual, is this year's committee release.
As I always think when drinking Supernova, it doesn't feel like the peat is overly dominant, and compared to regular releases, it's more on the side of peat-forward.
Especially with the first releases, many have a stronger saltiness or metallic sensation than peat, which is more concerning to me. I don't find much drinkability in those that have these elements too prominent.
Regarding this release, I can sense the sharp cut, but it doesn't have an overly strong saltiness or metallic sensation. It's spicy, but there isn't a bad lingering aftertaste.
I can also feel the strong peat-smoke typical of Ardbeg, and there's a satisfaction similar to an Islay cask strength. I thought this way, Supernova can be enjoyed deliciously.
