[Good/Very Good]
This is an official release from GlenGoyne, newly released 21-year-old whisky matured in sherry casks.
The aroma primarily showcases recent sherry notes with a slight woody character, accompanied by rich elements like berry jam, caramel, and a Danish pastry-like graininess.
Upon tasting, there's no harshness from raw wood as expected, instead a strong, pleasant sherry character emerges. True to its official bottling, the balance between sweetness and astringency is excellent, with the most memorable aspect being its strong fruity return after drinking.
The aftertaste is also pleasant and fruity, with a solid body for its ABV. Considering all factors, it's clearly Very Good (VG) and an outstanding whisky.
Compared to the upcoming 25-year-old release, it's technically inferior but the price difference is staggering. Realistically, this one seems more practical to purchase.
Overall, it was an excellent new official bottling.
