Laphroaig 25 Year Old Official Bottling 40%

Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 25yo OB 40%
Bottle #ラフロイグ(LAPHROAIG)
The aroma was calm yet as expected. Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 25yo OB 40% The nose was gentle, with a soft sherry backbone, ripe grapefruit, ginkgo, a powdery matcha-like note, a touch of plum, earthiness, and refined peat with some iodine and earthen complexity. On the palate, it had a smooth, silky texture that seemed to seep into the tongue, with a powdery chewiness. Notes of grapefruit, a refined sweetness, a hint of citrus acidity, and smoky peat with hints of charcoal and ash. 【Good/Very Good】 This is an official bottling of Laphroaig 25 Years Old. As the cask strength series began in 2008 for the 25-year-old range, this bottling likely dates to around 2007 or the same year. The aroma was gentle yet enveloping, with a good sherry character. It carried the grapefruit and matcha-like notes expected from 1980s Laphroaig, along with earthiness and a slightly subdued iodine and peat character from long aging. On the palate, it had a gentle, seeping texture. While not particularly heavy or concentrated like watered-down versions, it had a sense of condensation. The powdery chewiness and refined balance of sweetness and acidity were impressive. I felt a slight pull from the charcoal-like peat, but this is a matter of personal preference. Personally, I preferred the aroma over the palate, but it was a well-crafted, long-aged Laphroaig with water. #Laphroaig (LAPHROAIG)
