GlenGlassaugh 43 Year Old Official Rare Cask Series

GlenGlassaugh GLENGLASSAUGH 43yo OB RARE CASK SERIES 48.7%
Bottle #グレングラッサ(GLENGLASSAUGH)
This is the final piece of the 43-year-old collection, bringing a grand conclusion. GlenGlassaugh GLENGLASSAUGH 43yo OB RARE CASK SERIES 48.7% The aroma exhibits strong maturation notes, with grapefruit pith, green apple, pineapple, unripe melon, a vegetal character, vanilla, cream, tar-like peat, gentle barley notes, and rich complexity. Upon tasting, it begins with a soft mouthfeel that expands into ripe citrus and honeyed sweetness, accompanied by tar-infused peat, tropical fruits like loquat and pineapple, grapefruit pith, oil, a subtle clay-like texture. Though not overly heavy-bodied, the fruity, intoxicating finish leaves a lasting impression. [Very Good] This 200ml triple pack from GlenGlassaugh's official bottling includes the 26, 37, and 43-year-old expressions, with this final bottle being the 43-year-old matured variant. These bottles were sampled courtesy of the malt community in Toyama. From the first aroma, a diverse array of fruits with intense maturation character is immediately apparent. While the vegetal 'house style' was detectable, surprisingly, a strong Highland-type peat with tar-like notes also stood out. On the palate, the intoxicating fruitiness is clearly present, particularly with pronounced notes of grapefruit pith and tropical fruits. Regarding the tropical character, it reminded me of the 1965 bottling for whisky fairs or the 1973 release for Shin'noya & Campbell. Though not overly heavy-bodied, this was a remarkable expression showcasing exceptional maturation. It's also worth noting that the presence of this bottle might have influenced the selection of the other two bottles, which displayed distinct characteristics. This was a well-matured GlenGlassaugh indeed.
