A deep and flavorful Oban, it was delicious. Oban OBAN (Available Only at the Distillery) 48% - One of 6000 Bottles The aroma is calm yet elaborately complex, expanding with orange marmalade, faint peach, rustic and strong barley notes, slightly damp plant sensations, and vanilla. When drinking, it starts with a soft mouthfeel, gradually unfolding dried orange peel with skin, rustic barley umami, gentle sweet richness, damp plant sensations, and a clean aftertaste without bitterness. [Good/Very Good] This distillery-exclusive Oban was sold during the timing of our Scotland tour. Although it's non-age statement, there is absolutely no greenness or immaturity, and instead shows a remarkable maturity. While I felt bourbon-like nuances as the main character, I also sensed Waddington's characteristic complexity. The rustic barley umami was a pleasant impression. Although there is a plant sensation that often suggests bitterness in Oban for me, upon tasting it was unexpectedly free of bitterness, instead seeming deeply layered.
