Scotland Travelogue 5/23 (7th Day)
#スコットランド旅行記2016
Today is the day to return to Japan via Frankfurt from London. Due to connecting flights, arrival times, and the need to coordinate bottle shipments with my Kansai friends, I decided to first land at Kansai International Airport, distribute the bottles, then return to Haneda. I woke up at 5:15 AM to account for the early morning flight departure and time needed for tax refund procedures. I checked out of the hotel. The weather was nice, and although I thought the city was dirty with lots of trash, it seemed refreshing due to the bright light and sparse crowds. As always, moving through the massive Heathrow Airport was challenging, but since I arrived early and had already left my heavy luggage at the departure terminal yesterday, I could move efficiently without much stress.
After retrieving my belongings and successfully completing the tax refund as planned, I smoothly checked in for my flight—something that had always been hectic on this trip—and then took my time having breakfast. I couldn't make all the souvenirs for work and family entirely whiskey, so I bought them during the flight. I truly realized how important it is to have some extra time and preparedness when traveling by air.
As planned, I boarded Lufthansa's flight from Heathrow to Frankfurt. I fell asleep even before takeoff and woke up just as we landed—what a quick flight! In Frankfurt, I didn't even have the leisure to savor my first German meal, and immediately switched to Lufthansa's flight heading to Kansai. I had wanted to eat some beer and sausages, but... However, as expected, there were many Japanese people at the boarding gate, and it was oddly soothing to be surrounded by Japanese noise after so long. I boarded on time without issues and took off as scheduled. Although it was a 10-hour long flight, I read the continuation of my journey's book and managed to sleep relatively soundly after a section. I can't help but admire my own ability to fall asleep anywhere.
*Due to the large amount of luggage and the urgency of moving, I didn't take any photos from this point onward. I'm sorry it's just text, but the amount of photos is inversely proportional to the rush and tension, so I hope you can imagine that while reading.
