It had a sherried character accompanied by an intoxicating sensation.

1970s Circulation
The aroma had a pleasant old-world feel, with aged caramel, strongly brewed black tea, an intoxicating old sherry, dried apricot, plum jam, and cream.
When tasted, it started with a smooth mouthfeel that spread into an aromatic depth, with a texture that seemed to seep into the tongue. The old sherry was more pronounced than the aroma, with dried persimmon, not overly sweet caramel sauce, a gentle and pleasant sweetness, and the savory maltiness of barley that permeated through. It also had an intoxicating aftertaste.

This is an official Tamdu 8 Year Old, believed to have circulated in the 1970s.
It carries an old sherry aroma with noble nuances reminiscent of distillations from before the 1960s. The lack of complexity, as if it had not aged for a long time with water added, was also impressive.
There was an unexpected richness without the need for dilution, and although there were almost no signs of deterioration, it had a texture that seemed to seep into the tongue. It was also intoxicating, and I found myself quite satisfied even though it was only the beginning of the day.
It is indeed a superb old standard bottle, and I think this kind of feeling would not emerge even from the best current sherries that have undergone aging.
