Bottle #アードベッグ(ARDBEG)
The diverse aroma with a prominent sherry character was good.
Ardbeg ARDBEG Ar6 SPECIALITY DRINKS ELEMENTS OF ISLAY 55.7%
The aroma features caramel, black sugar, apricot jam with a touch of prune, milk chocolate, nuts toasted and charred in oil, smoky and strong peat.
Upon tasting, it spreads gradually with spicy notes, matured plums and faint berries, a rich sweetness balanced by a subtle tannic finish, cool metallic undertones from the depth, briny sea breeze and saltiness, with a long smoky finish.
[Good/Very Good]
This is the sixth release in the Elements of Islay series from Speciality Drinks (Whisky Exchange), featuring Ardbeg.
True to its sherry cask Ardbeg character, this bottle combines the sweet, fruity warmth of the cask with the cooler, sharper elements from the original spirit.
In this bottling, the warmth from the cask feels more dominant at present, with a pleasant balance of sweetness and tannins, while the cooler, briny impression becomes more pronounced towards the finish.
Of course, the peaty nuances are strongly present in both aroma and flavor.
While there are slight inconsistencies in this bottling, I believe it will become more harmonious and delicious with time.
