Recent Release: Glenlivet Official Master Distiller's Reserve
Bottle #グレンリベット(GLENLIVET)
This one came out, right? It's straightforwardly high CP.
Glenlivet GLENLIVET OB 'THE MASTER DISTILLER'S RESERVE' 40%
Aroma is lavish and strong, with plum and strawberry jam reminiscent of sherry cask, ripe orange, clear barley notes, oak, and a hint of vanilla.
On the palate, it has a soft mouthfeel with slight viscosity, sweetness from orange marmalade and depth from barley umami, accompanied by a touch of woody oak and faint green grassy bitterness, leaving a lingering depth.
[Good/Very Good]
This is an official bottling by Glenlivet for duty-free markets, called Master Distiller's Reserve.
Despite the name suggesting a powerful bottling, it's a non-age statement 40% ABV version bottled in liter bottles for duty-free, sold discreetly. However, it's also available in Japan, with prices ranging from 4000 to 5000 yen.
Regarding the content, it's excellent.
The aroma is vibrant, perfectly embodying the official vatting style of Glenlivet, combining both sherry and bourbon cask characteristics.
For example, the diverse fruity notes like jam are mainly from sherry casks, while oak, vanilla, and orange nuances come from bourbon casks.
The slightly raw woody notes and accompanying bitterness are often found in first-fill bourbon or new casks.
These elements come together cohesively, creating a complex and deep flavor profile.
Although it's non-age statement, there was no obvious sign of immaturity.
At least it was sold last year, but I didn't know about it. And it's still being sold.
To be persistent, despite being a non-age statement with water added, it's a limited bottling that showcases the subtlety of an official vatting. At this price, I think it's worth buying.
