Glenlivet GLENLIVET OB Nadurra Batch No.OL0314 48% FIRST FILL OLOROSO SHERRY CASKS, bottled in 2014
Bottle #グレンリベット(GLENLIVET)
Nadurra with sherry cask was released. Glenlivet GLENLIVET OB Nadurra Batch No.OL0314 48% FIRST FILL OLOROSO SHERRY CASKS, bottled in 2014 The aroma is vibrant, with notes of ripe plums, orange, apple, caramel, a subtle barley note, nuts, a hint of cinnamon, and a slightly sharp alcohol sensation. Upon tasting, it offers the sweetness of fruits like plums, a Danish pastry-like quality, and a youthful yet gentle umami with some barley character. [Good/Very Good] This is an official Glenlivet Nadurra, a small batch finished in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks. Typically, Nadurra is associated with high-quality bourbon casks similar to Morenji's Aster, but it seems that sherry-cask versions were also released locally. This particular bottle was purchased locally. Interestingly, at the time of release, each batch had different strengths (cask strength), but eventually diluted versions were also released. This one is 48% ABV, relatively high but still diluted. Regarding the content, it has a vibrant aroma with clear nuances of recent sherry casks. A slight alcohol sensation was noticeable, but the fruitiness was quite diverse. Tasting it also gave a sense of youthfulness, yet the fruity and barley notes were present in abundance, making it enjoyable. Given the sherry cask finish notation and Nadurra's natural character, it's unlikely to be a finished product. The sherry influence is present but not overwhelming for a first-fill cask. Although there's no aging indication, it's likely a vatting of relatively young base wines. However, the youthfulness isn't strongly pronounced, suggesting it might be a hoghead rather than a butt. Compared to the highly accomplished bourbon Nadurra, this sherry-cask version didn't create as much of an impact, but it was still quite enjoyable.
