Lagavulin LAGAVULIN The Scottish Referendum 45 vs 55 BATCH Ⅲ 55.0%, one of 90 bottles
Bottle #ラガヴーリン(LAGAVULIN)
A non-vintage Lagavulin with a refined character. Lagavulin LAGAVULIN The Scottish Referendum 45 vs 55 BATCH Ⅲ 55.0% one of 90 bottles The aroma features apricot jam, marmalade, black tea, a damp grainy note, sea breeze, seafood stock, and strong peat. On the palate, it has a smooth mouthfeel with viscosity, a rich sweetness from apricot jam balanced by astringency, good grainy notes, umami from the stock, strong peat, and richness. [Good/Very Good] In 2014, a Scottish independence referendum was held in Scotland, which resulted in a rejection with 45% in favor and 55% against. This bottle was released to commemorate that event. Although it is labeled only as an Islay malt, the content inside is Lagavulin. It has a fruity viscosity reminiscent of apricot jam, with a balanced grainy note. It also features the typical Islay notes of sea breeze and seafood stock, along with a strong peatiness. Because I drank it thinking it was Lagavulin, the aroma felt very Lagavulin-like. There is no vintage label, and I don't think the spirit was aged for a very long time. However, despite being high proof, it has a refined character with richness and umami, making for a satisfying drink.
