A young, vibrant malt with a pronounced sherry influence. GlenGoyne GLENGOYNE OB 'TEAPOT DRAM' BATCH No.004 58.7% one of 3178 bottles, First Fill Oloroso Casks The aroma features sweet sherry, caramel, milk chocolate, berry jam, with a youthful, strong barley note emerging from the depths. On the palate, it begins with a smooth mouthfeel, gradually expanding into spicy notes of plum, chocolate, and a rich sweetness. Though young, it carries the umami of barley, with a long finish. 【Good/Very Good】 This is GlenGoyne's official release, 'Teapot Dram', Batch Number 004. According to the label, up until the 1970s, workers at GlenGoyne would drink whisky from teapots three times a day. This 'Teapot Dram' is named in honor of that tradition. There's no aging statement, as it was matured in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks. Since it's a no-age statement whisky, the main spirit wasn't aged for an extended period. However, given it's first-fill, the sherry cask influence is quite pronounced. Notes of jam and milk chocolate are strong, while a youthful umami barley character is also present. Though the integration isn't fully developed yet, the youthfulness is masked by the cask influence, and it's already well-crafted as it is. The aroma develops gradually over time after bottling, but considering the 'Teapot Dram' concept, it's more about drinking the cask-liquid as is without expecting bottle aging. While not complex, it's pleasant and approachable, with a warm, enjoyable character. I imagined the workers of that era enjoying their work while sipping whisky. #GlenGoyne (GLENGOYNE)
