Bottle #グレンスコシア(GLENSCOTIA)
Undoubtedly one of the leading candidates for new releases under ¥10,000 this year. Glen Scotia GLENSCOTIA 10yo OB 'Legends of Scotia' Campbeltown Picture House 100th Anniversary 50% one of 6000 bottles, Sherry Cask, Heavily Peated ・Aroma: Orange with whipped cream, loquat, banana, the wheaty scent of freshly baked rich sponge cake, vanilla essence, a fruit cake made from these elements, strong peat with iodine notes, slightly tar-like, coconut oil, mascarpone cheese, rich. ・Flavor: Smooth mouthfeel that gradually expands with stimulating, aromatic richness. Creamy texture with viscosity. Similar to the aroma, nuances of fruit, wheat, and cream like a fruit cake. Notes of vanilla and coconut, youthful plant-like sensations from the depths, rich sweetness with a strong wheaty umami, powerful peat with pronounced charcoal and tar-like qualities alongside iodine, buttery peanuts, rich and full-bodied. ・Aftertaste: Creamy yet strongly assertive peat with more tar-like qualities than fruit. Slight bitterness. ・Watering Down: Surprisingly resilient even with added water, with clearer outlines of fruit and peat. ・Overall Review: An intriguing bottle that simultaneously conveys creamy fruit cake-like nuances and strong peat. Perhaps due to its peatiness, it lacks the immature feel often associated with its 10-year aging, and is well-crafted. A rich and delicious Glen Scotia. [Very Good, Interesting] Bottled to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Campbeltown Picture House, an old cinema. Glen Scotia Official 10 Year Old, heavily peated. I drank it at Yorochō and published an article, but I purchased a bottle and immediately opened it at home. Indeed, this is an interesting Scottish whisky where creamy fruit cake-like nuances and strong peat coexist. Although the specifications of the peat used are unclear, it's intriguing that despite its peatiness, it lacks the dashi-like quality often found in Scottish whiskies. The fruit-forward character is unexpected for a 10-year-old new release, and the peat doesn't mask any immature qualities. A subtle, unobtrusive bitterness is common in Scottish whiskies but was not off-putting here. This bottle is not only interesting but also genuinely delicious. Additionally, as time passes after opening, the creaminess and viscosity become more pronounced, enhancing the original sense of unity. The label is also beautiful, and its high quality is surprising for a bottle priced under ¥10,000. I purchased multiple bottles without hesitation. Although not an overwhelming quantity, it sold out quickly. However, the importer had some stock remaining, and recent orders have been announced. I already feel it's a strong contender for the best bottle in this category this year.
