New Release: KILCHOMAN Official 10th Anniversary Bottling
Bottle #キルホーマン(KILCHOMAN)
The basic flavor profile of KILCHOMAN was familiar, but it turned out to be quite good.

The aroma has a strong barley note, youthful peat, honey, vanilla, nuts, fresh citrus and grassy plant-like qualities, a touch of sesame oil and clay, root vegetables, a spicy tingling sensation when drinking, sweet notes of honey and light orange, slightly strong oak and tannin, savory barley character, and a lingering finish with seaweed and robust peat.

This bottle commemorates the 10th anniversary of KILCHOMAN's production, which began in 2005. It is a blend of spirit distilled between 2005 and 2012 over an 8-year period.
*Note: To be called Scotch whisky, it must be aged for at least three years, so the most recent casks cannot be used.
Due to the influence of younger spirit, there are slightly youthful plant-like qualities and unripe root vegetable nuances. However, the boldness of an Islay cask strength whisky and the savory barley character were impressive. From the depths, some more refined fruits emerge, subtly showing the influence of the matured spirit.
With festival-focused extreme bottlings now emerging and considering it's a distillery with strong handmade characteristics in an industry moving toward mass production, I'm excited to see what the next decade brings for KILCHOMAN.
