Lagavulin 11 Year Old Official 'The Manager's Dram' 2013 Bottling 57.1%
Bottle #ラガヴーリン(LAGAVULIN)
Even among relatively recent releases, I think it has the flavor of a Manager's Dram.
Lagavulin LAGAVULIN 11yo Official Bottling 'The Manager's Dram' 66.0%
bottled in 2013
The aroma is strong, with oily salted peanuts, orange, apricot, powerful malt, honey, refined seaweed and seafood stock, smoky and powerful peat.
When drinking, it unexpectedly smooths out from an oily mouthfeel, spreading spicy, with good viscosity, sweet richness, oak deepening the flavor, slightly creosote or metallic strong peat, umami from seafood and barley, with a long oily nutty finish.
【Very Good】
The Manager's Dram, a non-selling item distributed to distillery staff, was bottled by Lagavulin in 2013.
Being 11 years old, it was distilled around 2002, and is a light high proof cask strength as per the Manager's Dram style.
As it was not generally sold, even malt enthusiasts in Ginza were unaware of this bottling.
The aroma, as expected, is strong with the flavor of original spirit without much cask influence.
However, despite only being 4 years since bottling, it felt more refined than expected, with depth and complexity.
It has the characteristic viscosity, richness, and powerful peat, is still delicious now, but as a Manager's Dram, it seems like it might improve further after several decades.
