New Release: Laphroaig 11 Year Old Official Viking Line 48%

Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 11yo OB "VIKING LINE" 48%
Bottle #ラフロイグ(LAPHROAIG)
Delicious but slightly forceful in finish. Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 11yo OB "VIKING LINE" 48% The aroma features orange, plum, passion fruit in the background, fish stock dashi, vanilla and oak, with a powerful peat character containing ample iodine. The taste begins with a smooth texture, followed by a rich, viscous mouthfeel. Notes of orange, a flat yet strong sweetness, subtle bitterness, and an oily peat character with fish stock dashi and a sweet finish. 【Good/Very Good】 The new release Laphroaig 11 Year Old is a Nordic official bottling with an above-average ABV of 48%. The aroma combines classic Laphroaig characteristics with a diverse range of fruity notes from sherry casks, while the peat character is rich in iodine, creating a favorable impression. Upon tasting, the texture proved more viscous than expected. While the aroma's diverse fruity notes were less pronounced on the palate, a flat yet strong sweetness left a notable impression. The components from the sherry cask seemed slightly unblended, lacking cohesion. However, checking the back label revealed it's a triple cask expression following bourbon barrel → quarter cask → sherry butt. While the flat, sugary sweetness reminiscent of wine cask finishes isn't my strong suit, I feel the fruity notes from the aroma may eventually emerge on the palate. This might be a whisky that improves with time. #Laphroaig (LAPHROAIG)
