The aroma is rich old sherry, grape skin, berry jam, slightly black sugar candy and tamari soy sauce, leather, sweet and rich.
When drinking, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel and expands into a diverse range of old sherry aromas similar to the nose, with a faint lilac-like perfume element, deep sweetness and tannin, and a long, seductive finish. [Very Good]
This Macallan 12 Year Old from the 1980s is an official standard bottle from that era.
A rich and elegant, old sherry nuance typical of that time is fully present in both the aroma and flavor.
There's a nuance reminiscent of grape with skin, and the balance between sweetness and tannin is well done, giving a sense of seduction and fullness, making it excellent.
Although this bottle has always been stable in its characteristics, the one highlighted here is interesting because it unusually includes a lilac-like perfume element in addition to its usual elements.
It is neither something that lingers nor something that hinders elegance, and I found it interesting as a unique characteristic of this bottle.
I rarely remember feeling perfume in Macallan, and it's unclear whether it was originally present or developed after bottling.
However, I rarely sense such a predisposition in Macallan's original spirit, so personally, I think it emerged after bottling.
