Glenlivet GLENLIVET 14yo OB SINGLE CASK EDITION 'Chapelhaugh' #653 60.5%
Bottle #グレンリベット(GLENLIVET)
Slightly overpriced but still high quality. Glenlivet GLENLIVET 14yo OB SINGLE CASK EDITION 'Chapelhaugh' #653 60.5% The aroma features orange oil, vanilla, coconut, honey, premium oak notes, custard, cinnamon, and strong maltiness. On the palate, it gradually reveals spiciness, orange marmalade, a rich honey sweetness balanced by oak tannins, pronounced maltiness with umami depth, and a spicy, luxurious finish. [Good/Very Good] This is the Japanese-exclusive 'Chapelhaugh' from Glenlivet's Official Single Cask Edition, aged 14 years. Previous Japanese single cask releases included Navy and Ardanan, all featuring distinctive casks despite their high prices. This release also appears to use an exceptional bourbon barrel. The typical nuances of quality bourbon barrels - orange oil, vanilla, coconut, custard - were clearly present, with a rich body, umami depth, and well-balanced flavor structure. While the cask character is strong, there's minimal woody bitterness or raw oakiness, suggesting the barrel was made from high-quality oak that underwent thorough air-drying treatment. However, its price point is notably higher than expected for the specifications. After some consideration, I decided not to purchase it. It feels similar to past Japanese releases, and I'd be excited to see a future release featuring an exceptional sherry cask. #Glenlivet (GLENLIVET)
