BOWMORE 15 Year Old Official Bottling Laimrig 54.1%
Bottle #ボウモア(BOWMORE)
This recent BOWMORE has a feel of its recent sherry cask maturation. BOWMORE 15 Year Old Official Bottling Laimrig 54.1% The nose has a recent seasoned sherry, caramel and berry jam, burnt barley and dashi, light soy sauce, a grainy texture with paper-like qualities, and strong peat. When drinking, it has passion fruit and plum, orange, fruity sweetness, a moderate bitterness, a rich young barley note, slightly paper-like in the finish, and surprisingly smooth aftertaste. [Okay/Good] This is BOWMORE's official bottle, the 15-year-old Laimrig, latest batch. The nose strongly features recent seasoned sherry cask nuances, with sherried fruits and the typical Islay peat. However, it also had some soy sauce-like notes and paper-like qualities that aren't my strong suit. When drinking, the BOWMORE-like passion fruit notes that weren't prominent on the nose strongly emerged, overpowering the sherried fruits. There was some paper-like texture, but the balance of sweetness and acidity was good with barley umami. Although it's a sherried cask strength, it surprisingly lacked thickness and had a smooth finish, which was impressive. While it has some elements I find challenging, as a rare sherried cask Islay malt cask strength, and not an ultra-high priced malt, I think it's worth drinking like a Tempest sherry version. #BOWMORE (BOWMORE)
