Glenlivet's special casks are relatively expensive compared to their specifications, but they generally contain good quality. Glenlivet GLENLIVET 15yo OB SINGLE CASK EDITION "Aldamph" #9945 59.02% The aroma has juicy orange and plum, powerful barley notes, a faint touch of ginger and cinnamon, with an oaky richness. When drinking, it spreads gradually with a spicy yet fragrant flavor, a textured mouthfeel with orange, plum, vanilla, a hint of mint, and a honey-like sweetness balanced by oak. The youthful, strong barley character and its umami, along with a rich, long finish. 【Good/Very Good】 Glenlivet's official Single Cask Edition for Japan, "Aldamph," aged 15 years. Possibly a second-fill sherry cask, it has a concentrated fruity character with a mature juiciness, while the powerful barley notes remain prominent. The oak nuances are well-defined but without the typical bitterness or artificial flavoring, showcasing richness and depth. It has a stimulating spiciness reminiscent of high proof whisky, yet it expands into a fragrant complexity. The core of its flavor is the good fruity character and youthful barley umami, similar to the aroma. The honey-like sweetness also left a favorable impression. There's a textured, concentrated mouthfeel that gives a sense of chewiness, and the rich oak nuances linger for quite some time. Although it's somewhat expensive compared to its specifications, the aroma and flavor clearly indicate that this cask was specially selected from a large number of barrels. It's delicious as it is, but I think the optimal drinking period would be around 15-20 years from now when the intensity has mellowed and a smoother texture develops. #Glenlivet (GLENLIVET)
