Glenlivet GLENLIVET 15yo GM for SESTANTE 57% 80s Bottling The aroma is concentrated and powerful with a strong Sherrie, old-world feel, meaty thickness, prunes, dried fruits, Shaoxing wine, mirin sauce, sweet-savory teriyaki. Upon drinking, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel that expands into a rich and intense flavor, plum jam, mirin's deep sweet-savory notes, chewy texture with viscosity, strong meatiness, very rich, long sweet-savory aftertaste. A full-proof bottling (57%) of Glenlivet 15 Year by GM for SESTANTE in the 80s. The color is dark, and from the start, the concentrated, heavy Sherrie aroma is fully expressed. While many elements can be found upon searching, it does not have an overtly complex Sherrie character. However, each component clearly asserts itself upfront, particularly overwhelming with its powerful meatiness. While 'meaty' can sometimes border on sulfury, this bottle did not feel sulfury to me. The taste remains powerful and aromatic, with each component's presence overwhelming and leading into a long aftertaste. I was overwhelmed by its incredible punch, but perhaps if water is added and tasted slowly over time, more complexity or delicate aromas might be perceived. It's a bottle I would want to purchase and savor carefully.
