New Release: Lagavulin 16 Year Old Official Feis Ile 2017 56.1%
Bottle #ラガヴーリン(LAGAVULIN)
While it lacks the same impact as last year, it is still delicious.
Lagavulin LAGAVULIN 16yo OB FEIS ILE 2017 56.1% Double Matured in Moscatel Cask Wood
The aroma has a sense of expansion, with apricot jam and light tree sap, refined molasses, strongly smoked cured sausage, and richness.
When drinking, it spreads with a rich flavor of apricot jam and honey's sweet thickness, luxurious oak nuts, the deep umami of barley and smoked fish, and a long peaty finish.
【Very Good】
This year's Lagavulin 16 Year Old for Feis Ile, calculated backward, would be distilled around 2001.
It is matured in Moscatel cask wood, which is a very sweet sherry.
Last year's 18 Year Old, which was bicentennial, was excellent, so we were looking forward to this year's release.
It offers the Lagavulin characteristic of apricot jam and tree sap, with a thick and umami-rich quality. The peat is naturally present, providing a satisfying drinking experience.
Compared to Carrilah, which was also matured in sweet sherry for the same festival, it has a cohesive natural flavor profile while preserving the original spirit's heavier individuality, making it very rich and deep.
The house style is well-preserved, which must be the basis of its specifications. As expected.
