Auchentoshan, which also exhibits similarities to Irish whisky. Auchentoshan AUCHENTOSHAN 18 Year Old Official Bottle (43%) - Circulated in the 1980s The aroma features plum jam, caramel sauce, milk chocolate, milk tea, oil, and a smooth mouthfeel with creamy viscosity. The sweetness of plum jam and pineapple is balanced by oil, with floral notes before the perfume stage. Despite its rich flavor, the finish is surprisingly short. 【Good/Very Good】 This Auchentoshan 18 Year Old Official Bottle was circulated in the 1980s. The aroma strongly conveys jam-like qualities, caramel sauce, and sweet nuances of milk chocolate and milk tea, with a slight oily sensation. Upon tasting, it delivers a creamy, viscous sweetness reminiscent of Irish-style pineapple fruitiness combined with oiliness. The short finish despite its rich flavor might be characteristic of Lowland distilleries. When comparing Irish and Lowland malts, triple distillation is a common factor. It's not the first time I've sensed Irish-like qualities in older Auchentoshan bottlings. While shared characteristics often stem from distillation methods, recently I've encountered similar nuances in Pure Pot Still bottlings like Bushmills that don't use triple distillation, which has challenged my previous assumptions. More experience and information are needed for full understanding. Additionally, the faintly perfumy notes detected from deeper layers were impressive. I believe similar nuances can emerge through aging in non-perfumy distilleries over time. #Auchentoshan (AUCHENTOSHAN)
