A sharp and cool Islay malt, with a notable lemongrass-like impression. PORT ASKAIG 19yo Speciality Drinks 50.4% The aroma features lemongrass, chlorine and metal, vanilla, sea breeze, sharp peat and strong grain notes. Upon drinking, it has a smooth mouthfeel that expands, with a refreshing lemongrass, chlorine, and syrupy sweetness, slightly briny, with a solid peat presence, smoke, disinfectant, cool, and clear-cut flavor with good finish. [Good/Very Good] This Islay malt, bottled by Speciality Drinks (Whisky Exchange) without specifying the distillery name, is PORT ASKAIG's 19-year-old. This series is often speculated to be from Caol Ila, and this is my first time trying the 19-year-old. What stood out was the strong presence of lemongrass in both aroma and flavor, adding to the bold peat typical of Islay, with a sense of chlorine and metallic notes, giving it an overall cool character. When thinking about Islay malts with chlorine and metallic notes, I usually think of Ardbeg and Caol Ila. However, the absence of earthiness and the clear-cut, crisp flavor profile makes me think it's definitely Caol Ila. #Distillery Unknown
