Bottle #オルトモア(AULTMORE)
A long-term maturation in Rioja cask. Aultmore AULTMORE 19yo bottled in 2015 for THE WHISKY SHOP 50.4% one of 101 bottles The aroma is very sweet and rich in fruits, heated apple, faint calvados, raisins or apricot jam, cinnamon, rich. When drinking, it spreads from a smooth mouthfeel to a fragrant sweetness, with very sweet concentrated fruits. There is also a slight flatness reminiscent of wine casks but with strong sweetness, cinnamon, and astringent finish, leaving a pleasant aftertaste. [Good/Very Good, Interesting] The official single cask Aultmore 19 year old matured for the UK's The Whisky Shop in 2015. Although not stated on the bottle, it is said to have been matured in Rioja wine casks for the last 5 years of its 19-year maturation period. The duration is so long that it can no longer be considered just a finish. From the first impression of the aroma, there is a very sweet and diverse fruity sensation, with an apple note reminiscent of calvados rather than Rioja, which was particularly impressive. When drinking, there is still a diverse concentrated fruity sensation and quite sweet, with slightly flat wine cask sweetness but also astringent notes that prevent it from being overly syrupy. Although not common, this specification seems to indicate a new type of dessert whisky, which was interesting.
