Bottle #グレンリベット(GLENLIVET)
A magnificent 1950s vintage, exuding a profound sense of intoxication. Glenlivet GLENLIVET 1951 18yo OB for Italy 45.7% The aroma carries a sensuous, aged sherry with notes of dried orange, premium chocolate, high-grade black tea, faint berry jam and caramel, warehouse scent, antique furniture's woodiness, subtle hinoki (cypress), slightly damp barley, pleasant earthy tones, and a gradual emergence of old peat, with an intoxicating quality. On the palate, it begins with a smooth mouthfeel, expanding into a dominant yet balanced aged sherry. The wet barley offers umami depth, mirroring the aroma's intoxicating woodiness and earthy characteristics. Notes of leather and old peat emerge, with a long, lingering finish. 【Very Good】 This is an official Glenlivet 1951 bottling, aged for 18 years, implying a bottling date around 1969. Just the combination of 1950s distillation and 1960s bottling creates a divine atmosphere. The aroma defies expectations for a bottle over 45 years old, with no evident signs of deterioration. The sensuous aged sherry aroma immediately intoxicates. As described, the refined fruitiness, tea notes, umami-rich barley, premium chocolate, complex layers of deep woodiness and earthy tones, along with old peat, harmoniously blend together. The tasting experience was a delightful journey of unraveling these elements while remaining intoxicated. Though I've had the chance to enjoy this bottle on several occasions before, each sip reveals new depths, making it an elegant and flavorful malt that continues to surprise with its richness.
