Bottle #グレンファークラス(GLENFARCLAS)
This whisky defies expectations of long maturation from 1950s distillation in a positive way. Glenfarclas GLENFARCLAS 1952-2006 OB The Family Cask #1712 56.5% One of 110 bottles The nose offers sweet plums, orange, a touch of peach, lively barley notes, subtle herbs, a well-balanced smoky old peat character, some earthiness, slightly oily and rich. On the palate, it delivers a rich sherry character with plum, herbal plant notes, a touch of spice and body, a moist barley sweetness, a pronounced but not overpowering sweet tannin astringency, and a peat-infused rich finish. 【Very Good】 This is an official Family Cask bottling from Glenfarclas, distilled in 1952 and bottled in 2006. Aged for approximately 54 years in a sherry cask, this bottle defies typical assumptions about long-matured whiskies. Rather than expecting a woody, astringent profile or a faded body, it delivers a well-balanced experience with a pleasant sherry character, diverse fruity maturity notes, and the old peat character typical of 1950s distillates. The sherry character remains rich and fruity on the palate, while retaining excellent barley notes and body despite its extreme aging. The woody character and astringency are not harsh, yet the matured fruitiness and old peat elements remain fully present. This is a highly balanced, multi-dimensional whisky that exceeds expectations for its specifications. While lacking the noble nuances typically associated with this era's sherry casks, its exceptional drinkability and balance make it an impressive long-aged Glenfarclas.
