Bottle #グレンファークラス(GLENFARCLAS)
Excellent GM sherry character. Which distillery is this?
Glenavon GLENAVON 1961-1997 GM 40%
The nose is noble and sweet, rich sherry with concentrated grape juice, mixed berry jam, caramel, American coffee or faint bitter chocolate, faint herbal notes like medicinal wine, mushroomy and leathery, with a subtle old peat in the background. Complex and rich.
On the palate, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel expanding into a luxurious sherry character that is intoxicating. The rich grape juice has strong tannic nuances, with a concentrated sweetness and gentle acidity, balanced by a mellow woody dryness. The finish brings earthy notes and faint old peat, with a rich and long-lasting aftertaste.
【Very Good】
A Glenavon single malt bottled by GM in 1997, diluted to 40%.
The nose is dominated by a noble old sherry character, with concentrated grape juice and berry jam fruitiness. It also has coffee, chocolate, and medicinal wine-like bitter elements, along with earthy mushroom notes, leather, and peat to add depth. These diverse elements come together as a unified whole, creating an experience where you feel like dissecting the aroma.
When tasted, it has a rich and refined sherry character that defies expectations for 40% ABV. The concentrated grape juice sweetness and acidity from the fruit, combined with earthy depth, leatheriness, and a well-balanced tannic dryness, create a harmonious profile without any rough edges.
Indeed, old GM sherries are captivating, and I can't help but feel this bottle's quality is timeless. Unfortunately, I regret not having more stock because I've opened and enjoyed every bottle I purchased.
