This could be described as a miraculous state of preservation. Highland Park HIGHLAND PARK 1962 20yo Blackadder #2991,2992 43% one of 192 bottles The aroma has depth with orange liqueur, honey, vanilla cream, a pleasant and richly flavored barley note, nuts and earthiness, old peat, yet still retains a fresh feel with an enchanting quality. When tasted, it starts with a gentle mouthfeel that expands into a richly layered flavor, offering a robust yet refined barley sweetness, the honeyed richness of caramel, a subtle citrusy tannin like cotton, old peat with tar and smoke notes, and a long, rich finish. [Very Good/Excellent, Interesting] This is Highland Park 1962 from Blackadder, aged for 20 years. Bottled around 1982, from two casks. Although the label was unusually clean, raising suspicions of being a fake, upon opening I immediately confirmed it was genuine. The aroma clearly carries the earthy notes and old peat character typical of the 1960s, with a deep fruity quality, nuances of nuts and cream, honeyed sweetness, and rich barley notes that left a strong impression and a sense of enchantment. Despite having undergone bottle aging changes, it still retains an overall freshness, which was quite surprising. The flavor is intensely rich beyond its alcohol strength, with a refined and aromatic profile. Each bite releases more umami from the barley, a strong honey sweetness reminiscent of old Highland Park, a subtle citrusy tannin like cotton, and old peat notes. These elements come together naturally in a unified way. This bottle, which has been aged for nearly 35 years since bottling, defies expectations of its age. I was curious about what kind of storage could preserve it in such a perfect condition. There were no negative elements from aging changes, which was astonishing. It retains the charm of a 1960s distillation while still holding freshness, making me imagine how it would taste if I had drunk a 1960s distillation bottled in the 1980s (a common specification for legendary bottles) around the 1990s. It was a truly wonderful experience. This bottle was opened at the anniversary event held by Campbelltown Loch in Ginza. Congratulations on this occasion. Although many wonderful bottles were opened this time, this one left the strongest impression on me personally. #Highland Park (HIGHLANDPARK)
