Bottle #タムデュー(TAMDHU)
The flavor of this 60s-aged whisky is becoming increasingly rare. TAMDHU TAMDHU 1962-2006 GM The MACPHAIL'S COLLECTION 43% The aroma has a noble sherry character typical of GM, violet-like floral notes, dried fruits such as raisins, high-quality bitter chocolate, mint, grape-like juiciness, herbs like clove, and a faint earthy quality. On the palate, it starts with a rounded mouthfeel that expands into a rich, fragrant flavor. Similar to the aroma, it has noble sherry notes, grape-like characteristics with skins, juicy intense sweetness, tannins from herbs and woodiness that provide a pleasant tightening sensation, and a long finish. 【Very Good】 This TAMDHU 1962 was bottled by GM in 2006, making it an ultra-long aged whisky of approximately 44 years. It was bottled at 43% ABV after dilution. From the first sip, it has a noble sherry character that immediately evokes GM's 60s style, accompanied by an attractive violet-like floral note. Alongside concentrated fruits like raisins, there's a grape juice-like quality, with bitterness from chocolate, herbs, spices, and an earthy undertone. It has a juicy sweetness and tannins that are not overly strong for its aging duration, with a fragrant, pleasant finish that lingers long. Despite being diluted to 43%, the strong sherry character from such a long aging period suggests it might have been aged in an American white oak sherry cask. As GM is said to have brought their own sherry casks to the distillery to fill their spirit, I'm curious about what specifications of casks they used. #TAMDHU (TAMDHU)
