Glenord 1962 26 Year Cadenhead for Mizuhashi

Glenord GLENORD 1962 26yo Cadenhead for Mizuhashi 56.5%
Bottle #グレンオード(GLENORD)
The 1962 distillation of Glenord has many truly wonderful expressions. Glenord GLENORD 1962 26yo Cadenhead for Mizuhashi 56.5% The aroma has a subtle old-world character but remains lively, with apricot jam, plum jam, heated apples, tree sap, slightly concentrated red tea, a bold and strong barley note, vanilla cream and coconut, faint cinnamon, good oak, rich and complex, expanding into a fragrant depth when drunk, apricot jam, apple jam, viscous and slightly creamy, bold and strong barley umami, a rich sweetness, a hint of plum jam acidity, moderate woodiness and tannins, faint old peat, richly layered, with a very long finish. [Excellent] This Glenord 1962, aged for 26 years, was bottled by Cadenhead for Japanese company Mizuhashi. There are many wonderful expressions of the 1962 Glenord, including this Mizuhashi bottling, as well as others from the same Cadenhead casks like the Blackdampee bottle and the legendary Samarro Bouquet. It shares many components with the similarly high-proof Samarro Bouquet, featuring bold and robust barley umami, concentrated sweetness and acidity reminiscent of apricot jam or plum jam, with complex and deep elements emerging in succession. Although I tasted them separately, they share many common characteristics. Both are distinctly pronounced, but the Samarro Bouquet excels in elegance and allure, while this one has a drier, more straightforward impression. The difference felt like that between an Italian and a Japanese person, which was intriguing. This bottle seems to have the perfect timing in its vintage, aging period, and post-bottling time, making it a truly excellent bottle at its drinking peak. Additionally, it shares many similarities with the official 25-year-old I tasted just before, showcasing the distillery's house style and its strength. This bottle was obtained from Main Malt in Kobe Sanmachi.
