BUNNAHABHAIN 1963 Official Bottling 43%
Bottle #ブナハーブン(BUNNAHABHAIN)
BUNNAHABHAIN retains its distinct character even from the 1960s, but this one truly stands out.
BUNNAHABHAIN 1963 OB 43%
The aroma offers a pleasant aged feel, with black sugar and caramel, slightly chocolate and prune, refined and flavorful barley notes, a touch of grassy and metallic tones, and a faint old peat.
On the palate, it starts with a gentle mouthfeel that gradually expands into a rich, savory barley character. The taste is slightly textured, with a hint of chewiness and sweetness, herbal depth, earthy grassiness, and an underlying old peat. The finish is complex and long-lasting.
【Very Good】
The official BUNNAHABHAIN 1963 is a 43% ABV water-added bottling. The bottling appears to be from the late 1990s, with over 30 years of aging. The aroma suggests an aged character from the time since bottling, with subtle notes reminiscent of old sherry casks—black sugar, caramel, chocolate, and prune. However, the more striking elements were the refined barley character and the grassy BUNNAHABHAIN essence. The 1960s-style old peat also subtly emerged.
Tasting it, the experience transitions from a gentle mouthfeel to a textured sensation that lingers on the tongue. There's a faint, concentrated chewiness with a sweet depth balanced by a grassy edge that carries a hint of bitterness. However, this is complemented by peat and earthiness, creating a complex yet pleasant flavor profile that lingers until the end. Given its rarity and delicate drinking window, I'm grateful to have had the chance to enjoy it.
