Auchentoshan 1965 31 Year Old Official Bottling #2503
Bottle #オーヘントッシャン(AUCHENTOSHAN)
There was a tropical sensation common to long-aged grains.
Auchentoshan AUCHENTOSHAN 1965-1997 31yo OB #2503 47.1% Hogshead
The aroma featured ripe plums, apricot jam, pineapple, concentrated black tea, coconut, a strong woody character with hints of hinoki (Japanese cypress), resinous pine, and a slippery viscosity upon drinking. The tropical notes of apricot jam and pineapple were prominent, with rich sweetness. The woody character was strong but balanced with tannins, and the body was not overly thick.
【Good/Very Good】
An official single cask bottling from Auchentoshan, aged 31 years from 1965. The aroma strongly conveyed rich fruity notes of ripe fruits and jams, with nuances of concentrated black tea and a pronounced woody character reminiscent of hinoki. Upon tasting, the intense fruity notes with thick viscosity and sweetness were evident, similar to the aroma. A strong woody character was present alongside tropical fruit and oriental nuances, which I found reminiscent of the common characteristics in long-aged grains. Additionally, despite its richness, it had a lighter-bodied feel, typical of Roland's style.
Personally, I found the aroma slightly tiring, but it was a rich and satisfying malt with a sense of fulfillment in one glass.
