It's been four years since it was released, and I was surprised at the time... Springbank (Western Highlands) 1965-2010 45yo The Whisky Agency private stock 45.7% One of 98 bottles, Refill Hogshead The aroma is elegant, with strawberry jam, apricot jam, a touch of Cognac, and a subtle cedar note alongside strong oakiness. The palate is rich, starting with a smooth, velvety texture that expands into a full-bodied flavor. The strawberry jam character is prominent, with intense sweetness and depth. The oakiness is strong, slightly bitter, but adds complexity. A faint oiliness lingers with a long, rich finish. [Good/Very Good] This Springbank 1965, aged for 45 years, was bottled in 2010 as a private stock by The Whisky Agency under the Western Highlands designation. At the time of its release, I was surprised because I hadn't expected any new releases from 1960s Springbank. The aroma was elegant, clearly embodying the essence of 1960s Springbank with a strong strawberry jam character, alongside intoxicating nuances reminiscent of apricot and Cognac. The woody notes carried a subtle cedar-like quality, which was quite pronounced. Upon tasting, the flavor expanded into a rich, full-bodied profile with a strong strawberry jam presence. The finish was indeed rich and intoxicating. However, the strong woody character had a slightly prickly bitterness. While the over-ripened oakiness was noticeable, I could still enjoy the rich, intoxicating flavor typical of 1960s Springbank, including its strawberry jam character. Although four years have passed since bottling, there hasn't been much change in its impression, likely due to its long-matured cask strength nature.
