Bottle #トーモア(TORMORE)
A full-strength Samaroli bottled in the 1980s, it certainly delivers a powerful presence.
TORMORE TORMORE 1966-1982 SAMAROLI 57% Sherry Wood
The aroma is strong sherry, concentrated fruits, berry jam, grape notes, caramel, black sugar, rum, bitter chocolate, coffee, bouquet garni, strong herbs, cinnamon, apple pie, nuts, leather, strongly roasted barley. Upon drinking, it expands with a powerful, fragrant sweetness of red fruit jam, a strong body, and a tannic astringency that deepens the flavor rather than being off-putting. The umami of barley lingers on the tongue, with herbs, extremely rich, and a long, oily finish that clings to the palate.
【Very Good/Excellent】
Samaroli bottled this Tormore 1966 in 1982, aged for approximately 16 years.
The aroma first presents a strong, old sherry character, with hints of grape alongside jammy fruits. Notes of caramel, black sugar, chocolate, coffee, and strong herbal nuances are all present, each clearly derived from the sherry cask but assertively pronounced. A distinct roasted barley sensation is also evident. Due to its aged character, a wide array of aromas continue to emerge.
Upon tasting, the full-strength boldness expands with a rich, fragrant flavor as expected. As with the aroma, a diverse range of flavors is perceived: a thick, sweet jammy body, with a slightly strong tannic sensation that enhances the depth of flavor rather than being unpleasant. The intense umami of barley feels deeply infused, leaving a long, lingering finish on the palate. Most impressively, its powerful body is striking.
Like the Bouquet's Oud, this bottle impressively maintains its robust body while also conveying other exceptional elements. It is a rare bottle that truly embodies the full-strength Samaroli of the 1980s. Extremely satisfying.
