Isle of Jura 1966-2000 33yo Mackillop's Choice #1870 43%
Bottle #アイルオブジュラ(ISLE OF JURA)
Almost like a 60s Bowmore. After drinking it again, it's impressive.
Isle of Jura ISLE OF JURA 1966-2000 33yo Mackillop's Choice #1870 43%
The aroma is intensely fruity, with grapefruit pith, passion fruit, mango, a droplet-like juice sensation, Cognac, and a faint peat note. The mouthfeel starts smooth, expanding with the same tropical notes as the aroma but slightly more subdued, with white grape dominating and a pleasant lingering sweetness and acidity.
[Very Good]
This is the Isle of Jura 1966, bottled in 2000 by Mackillop's Choice, aged for 33 years. From the start, it has an intense droplet-like fruity aroma with intoxicating tropical fruit notes like passion fruit, grapefruit pith, and mango. In one word, it smells exactly like a 60s Bowmore.
When drinking, while the depth and thickness aren't overwhelming, the same wonderful tropical fruit notes as the aroma are strongly felt, with a pleasant balance of sweetness and acidity. I've had this bottle several times before, but I still remember being shocked the first time I drank it because it was so similar to a 60s Bowmore.
After that, I've tried several other bottlers' Jura with the same specs, but generally they had this kind of aroma. I once pursued the aroma of 60s Bowmore myself.
While many similar whiskies have intense fruity notes, I think this is the closest to a 60s Bowmore. The explosive feeling when drinking might be slightly weaker, but if it were blind tasted and I had to choose one, I would first say Bowmore. It was a strikingly fruity Jura.
